OUR WHY
Love lives in every word
even the made-up ones.
It began with a tiny voice - my daughter’s.
Her first words danced between Mandarin and English. Sometimes both at once, sometimes something entirely made up of her own. In that swirl of sound, I realized I didn’t just want to teach her Chinese, I wanted to build a world we could grow into together.
Double Heart Full Hall was born in those everyday moments of motherhood. The giggles, the noodle slurps, the way her face lit up at a new word, a melody, or a scribble that somehow told a story.
Our mixed-up, made-up language became our secret thread.
The way we giggled, painted, and babbled side by side.
The way we saw more of each other and more of the world, together.
As a family raising a child between cultures, languages, and worlds, we’re learning that tradition doesn’t have to be perfect to matter. It can be joyful, silly, heartfelt, and real. Culture lives in the little things: a dumpling folded by tiny hands, a song hummed off-key in two tongues, a bedtime story that spans generations, a whispered “我爱你” before sleep.
