Double Heart Full Hall (DHFH) is committed to providing a website and digital experience that is accessible and inclusive for all. We support the full participation of individuals with disabilities and are working to meet all requirements under Ontario’s accessibility laws, including the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).

 

We believe everyone deserves to engage with our stories, tools, and cultural content - regardless of ability.

Our Commitment

Double Heart Full Hall (DHFH) is committed to designing and providing an inclusive, barrier-free learning experience. We believe that all families, regardless of ability, should have equitable access to our stories, content, and language resources.

 

We are actively working to increase the accessibility and usability of our website and mobile application (App), striving to adhere to the internationally recognized Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards.

Scope of this Statement

This statement applies to the DHFH public website and the DHFH mobile application.

Accessibility Standards and Status

We are working toward meeting WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards. While we continuously test and improve, we are currently focused on ensuring:

  • Perceivable: Text alternatives are provided for non-text content (images have alt-text).

  • Operable: All functionality is available via a keyboard for both the website and the app.

  • Understandable: Content is presented clearly and logically, including appropriate heading structures.

  • Robust: We aim for compatibility with a wide range of current and future user agents, including assistive technologies.

Key Accessibility Features in the DHFH App

Our development goals prioritize features that directly support accessibility in a learning environment:

  • Read-Aloud Support: All story content is designed to work with screen readers.

  • High Contrast: Use of color combinations that meet minimum contrast ratios for text visibility.

  • Adjustable Text: Users can adjust text size within the app settings.

  • Focus Management: Clear visual indicators are provided for screen readers and keyboard navigation.

Limitations and Feedback

Despite our best efforts, we recognize that some accessibility challenges may exist as we continue to build and expand our content.

If you encounter any barriers: including difficulty viewing, hearing, or interacting with any part of our website or app please contact us. We take all accessibility feedback seriously and will work to provide alternative access methods or correct the issue promptly.

This statement will be reviewed and updated at least every five years, or more frequently as needed. As we grow, so will our accessibility practices because creating a space that’s truly full of heart means making room for everyone.
